ABOUT VIVIAN

Since 2018, Councilmember Vivian Moreno has had the honor of representing District 8. She has been a lifelong resident of San Diego and was born and raised in the South Bay. Since being elected, Councilmember Moreno has dedicated her career to improving the region’s most underserved communities through providing a Greener, Safer, Cleaner and Stronger District 8.

Councilmember Moreno’s priorities include ensuring that the communities of District 8 receive the equitable services and resources they deserve. This includes the building of an additional 769 units of affordable housing for our working families, repairing our streets and roads, ensuring safer routes to school, building new parks, advocating for more youth programming at libraries and park and recreation centers.

Councilmember Moreno currently serves as Chair of the Audit Committee, is Vice Chair of the Budget and Government Efficiency Committee and a member of the Committee on Land Use and Housing and Rules Committee. She also Chairs the Otay Mesa Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District Public Financing Authority and serves on the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System Board, SANDAG Board of Directors, SANDAG Transportation Committee, SANDAG Borders Committee, SANDAG Bayshore Bikeway Working Group, the San Diego Consortium Policy Board, and the Otay Valley Regional Park Policy Committee. She is also a former member of the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee.

With a strong passion towards the advancement of youth and Latinas in San Diego, Councilmember Moreno has served on the boards of community-focused organizations including the Border View Family YMCA, MANA de San Diego, and the American Lung Association.

Councilmember Moreno graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science with a focus on International Relations from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to working in public service, Councilmember Moreno worked in the metal industry as a Broker Buyer. On her spare time, Councilmember Moreno enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband Miguel, her daughter Michelle, and their senior dog Luna.
